Suitable as a solution and storage buffer for DNA. Contained EDTA inhibits traces of DNase and protects the nucleic acid from degradation. TE buffers are generally unsuitable as a buffer solution for cloning because they inhibit enzymes such as Ligases by complexation of bivalent cations.
