Qualitative detection of calcium (Ca) in urine.

For detection, 2 tubes are filled with 5 ml urine each. Add 5 ml of Sulkowitch reagent to the test tube and 5 ml of distilled water to the reference tube and mix both tubes. The Ca excretion is assessed after 3 minutes at the latest:

• Increased: Turbidity is strong and immediate.
• Normal: Slight / medium turbidity immediately after mixing.
• Decreased: Slight opalescence only after > 3 minutes.
